GENERAL USES OF PIERRE@ D OXI²

  1. Introduction

This OXI² Pre-Wash was developed and tested to remove hardened stains and smells caused by urine on carpets. Mammalian excretions such as blood, faeces, urine etc. consist of a combination of ammonia, bacteria, hormones, and uric acid.

As the urine breaks down, the ammonia concentration increases and sulphur-containing organic chemical substances known as mercaptans are then released.

  1. The chemical structure of Urea

The chemical structure of urea is written as (NH2)2CO. This means that two nitrogen-containing, ammonia-derived molecules are joined to a carbon molecule that has a double bond to an oxygen molecule.

  1. Contents

Dog urine contains urea, creatine, uric acid, carbohydrates, enzymes, fatty acids, hormones, sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium, calcium and ammonia.

  1. Animal-related marks and stenches

When a dog smells another dog’s urine, it can detect the hormones, such as estrogen or testosterone that is present in the urine. That stimulates their reaction to mark or remark the area.

DO NOT CLEAN such affected areas with products containing ammonia. For urine turns as explained above, into ammonia, react then on a molecular level to the chemical structure, worsening the urine stench as it releases it in a more concentrated form.

  1. LAUNDRY APPLICATIONS

  • For light soils: add 30ml (30g) of 02 Pre-wash with your laundry detergent per load. For moderate soils: use
  • 60ml (60g) and for heavily soiled articles: use 120g (120ml)
  • For whitening old linens and yellowed window shears, deodorizing and cleaning tennis shoes, or to get rid of yellow armpit stains on shirt, soak in 60ml (60g) of 02 Pre-Wash per 3.80-liter water for at least one hour, or overnight, then rinse.

 MIXING SOLUTION OF 02 PRE-WASH

Pierre @ D OXI² Pre-Wash will remain active for 5-6hrs, after which they should be discarded. Unused material may be poured down the drain. It will help clean and deodorize your disposal or toilet.02 Pre-Wash is most effective when mixed and used in warm to hot water (65degrC)

  1. GENERAL CLEANING
  • Mix 120ml (120g) of Pre-Wash in 3.8 litres of warm or hot water
  • Heavy Cleaning: Mix 240ml (240g) in 3.8 litres of warm or hot water
  • Soaks: Mix 60 – 120ml (120g) in 3.8 litres of warm or hot water
  • Paste: Mix 30-60ml/g with just enough water to make a paste
  1. CARPET, CAPRPET PADDING, COUCHES, UPHOLSTERY
  • To de-stain and deodorize carpet, start by mixing a general cleaning solution. Remove as much of the dirt or
  • liquid as possible.
  • Spray Pre-Wash solution on spot, work into area with a brush and let stand 5-10 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly by pouring fresh water over spot, blot up with a clean cloth or towel.
  • Vacuum thoroughly when completely dry.
  • Always test for color fastness before applying OXI² Pre-Wash.
  • Carpet cleaning machines add 30ml/g per 3.8litre of warm water in the solution tank.
  1. KITCHEN
  • For stained plastic ware, dishes, dish rags and dish towels add 30ml/g to 60ml/g to the container to be cleaned or to the dishwater and soak for at least 15 minutes.
  • To keep your drains and disposals clear and smelling fresh add 30g/ml in 240ml/g of hot water and allow solution to sit in drain overnight
  1. COFFEE POTS
  • To de stain your coffee pot, add 30g/ml if 02 Pre-Wash into a coffee pot of hot water, soak 1015minutes and rinse thoroughly.
  1. REFRIGERATORS
  • To eliminate mould, mildew and other organic stains, mix general cleaning solution in a squirt bottle and apply with a soft cloth, let stand 10-20minutes, wipe and rinse thoroughly. Cutting Boards, Tupperware, and Kitchen Counter Tops
  • To clean and deodorize your whole kitchen use a general cleaning solution and apply with a soft cloth, squirt bottle or sprayer, let stand 5-10 minutes and rinse.
  • For extra strong stains, soak item with an extra strong solution for 15-20minutes, rinse thoroughly
  1. BATHROOM
  • For septic systems add 120ml/g of Pre-Wash toilet and flush into the septic system twice a week. For toilets add 90g/ml, wait for 15 minutes then scrub.
  • For shower curtains soak in 30g per 3.8 litre of hot water, for mildew stains soak overnight.
  • For bathtub and shower use make a paste with hot water, scrub with cloth or sponge, wait 15 minutes then rinse or use
  1. WATER DAMAGE CLEANUP & MILDEW REMOVAL
  • To remove mould and mildew prior to painting or to clean up water damage, mix a soaking solution, apply to surface, and scrub with a brush or sponge. Let stand 20-30 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
  1. INDOOR-OUTDOOR CARPETING, FENCING, CONCREETE, SIDING, WOOD DECKS, AND STUCCO.
  • To remove weathered stains for wood decking, fencing, siding, concrete, and stucco, use a general cleaning solution and apply with a clean lawn sprayer. Let stand 10-30minutes, scrub if necessary and rinse thoroughly.
  • Or mix a general cleaning solution in a bucket and apply with broom or brush, then scrub and rinse thoroughly
  1. FIREPLACES & BRICKS
  • Use the general cleaning solution and apply to fireplace or bricks with a scrub brush or broom and allow standing 10- 20minutes and rinsing thoroughly with fresh water.
  • Scrub before rinsing if necessary
  1. YARD
  • For deodorizing garbage cans add 15g/ml per 3.8litre of water and let soak. For lawn furniture add 60g/ml to hot water, scrub, wait 15 minutes, then rinse. For all weather carpeting add 120g/ml to 3.8litre of warm water scrub with a stiff broom, wait 20 minutes and rinse.
  1. HOUSEHOLD
  • To de-stain and deodorize carpets add 30g/ml Pre-Wash per 3.8litre of carpet shampoo prior to cleaning.
  • For tiles add 180g/ml per 3.8litres of hot water, spray on tiles, wait 15minutes then rinse. For mops add 90g to 3.8litre of hot water, soak overnight then rinse.
  • For mildew removal or to clean basement floors after water damage from flooding add 120g/ml to 3.8litre of hot water, scrub surface, wait 30 minutes then rinse.
  • To clean and deodorize cat litter boxes soak then in 902g/ml if Prewash per 3.8litre of water for 20 minutes then rinse.
  • For urine, faeces or vomit stains on carpets or upholstery add one teaspoon of 02 Pre-wash to 240ml water, wipe onto stain, wait 10 minutes the rinse
  1. CAMPING
  • To clean and deodorize coolers add 60g/ml if Prewash per 3.8 litres of hot water soak for 20 minutes, then rinse, for boat sails, cushions, ropes, camping gear, tent sets add120g/ml per 3.8 litres of hot water soak for 30 minutes then rinse

Spirocerca Lupi

SPIROCERCA LUPI:  Die “stille moordenaar”

 Spirocercosis word die toestand genoem wat deur die wurm “Spirocerca lupi” veroorsaak word.  Hierdie wurm lewe in die nodules van die oesophagus (ook genoem die “gullet”) wat ‘n gedeelte is van die hond se spysverteringstelsel, ‘n gedeelte tussen die maag en die mond.

Nodules is klein gewassies wat natuurlik in die liggaam voorkom.  Hierdie wurms kan tot 2 jaar lank oorleef in hierdie gewassies, waar hul eiers lê en dit in klein openings van die gewas uitskei, waar dit in ‘n hond se mismonster vasgestel kan word.

Miskruiers (die “Coprophagous beetle”) wat so ‘n belangrike funksie in die Natuur speel, neem hierdie Spirocerca eiers in met die mis wat hul verwerk.  Die eiers ontwikkel in die miskruier na ‘n L1 stadium (wat die eerste larwe stadium is).  Honde word op hierdie metode besmet wanneer hul die miskruiers eet.  Hierdie miskruiers word gemiddeld 6mm groot.  Dit is NIE die wonderlike groot miskruiers wat ons in die algemeen ken nie.

Ontwikkeling

 Nadat die hond die miskruier geëet het, ontwikkel die wurm in die maag van die hond.  Hierdie wurm boor dan deur die maagwand, veroorsaak enorme pyn en ongemak in die maag en beweeg na bloedvate rondom die maag van die dier.

Hierdie wurmlarwes migreer opwaarts binne die wande van die bloedvate, waar hul binne weke deurbeweeg om by die aorta, die hoofslagaar wat die hart verlaat, uitkom.  Hier doen hul enorme skade omdat hul die wande van die aorta verswak en daardeur ‘n aneurisme veroorsaak.

Jong volwasse wurms, wat gewoonlik in stadia L3 en L4 is, migreer dan direk na die slukderm (die “oesophagus”), wat baie naby aan die aorta lê.  Hierdie wurms kan ook na die rugstring toe migreer.  Binne die slukderm vorm hierdie wurms nodules binne die slukderm se wande, waar hul eiers lê en hul lewensiklus van voor af begin.

Tekens

 Simptome en tekens is nie baie duidelik en spesifiek nie omdat die wurmlarwe migreer deur die liggaam se wande en ook vatplek kry in nie-funksionele nodules wat in die liggaam voorkom. Veroorsaak gewigsverlies, naar word en ook braking (“retching”), met ander woorde die aksie om op te gooi sonder om te vomeer.

Hierdie nodules kan ook in kanker omskakel.  Abnormale migrasie van die wurm kan ook verlamming en neurologiese versteurings veroorsaak.  In laat stadiums kan daar ook n verdikking in die voorbene wees.

Skielike sterftes kan voorkom omdat die jong wurms skielike skade aan die aorta en daardeur aneurismes veroorsaak.  Omdat die skade wat hierdie wurm veroorsaak permanent is, kan skielike sterftes aan die aorta steeds gebeur nadat die wurm van die dier se liggaam verwyder is.  Dit is egter skaars omdat die Literatuur bewys dat dit eerder in die vroeë migrerende stadiums gebeur.

Spirocerca Lupi is bekend as die “Laksman”, die “Sniper” of “Silent killer” omdat daar baie min uiterlike tekens is dat die hond siek is.

Volwasse “Spirocerca lupi” is helder rooi wurms – die manlike wurms is sowat 40mm lank en die wyfies is sowat 70mm lank.  Dit het ‘n baie komplekse lewensiklus, wat ‘n finale stadia, ‘n intermediêre en dan ‘n parateniese stadia in ‘n gasheer het.  ‘n Parateniese gasheer is een waar geen ontwikkeling – of geen verdere ontwikkeling – plaasvind nie.

Die finale gasheer van hierdie wurmparasiet is die hond.  Die intermediêre gasheer is byvoorbeeld die miskruier.  Parateniese gashere sluit ‘n verskeidenheid van lewende organismes in.  Hierdie organismes dra by tot die verspreiding van die wurm.  Paddas eet die miskruiers, verskeie akkedissoorte, verskeie voëlsoorte, rotte en muise – alles organismes wat honde vang, eet en jaag.  Honde word dus deur hierdie roete geinfekteer wanneer hul hierdie organismes eet.

Behandeling

 Wurmmiddels wat fokus om die wurm dood te maak in sy larwe stadia, asook binne-in die nodules, is die beste wat die wetenskap tans het.  Wanneer kanker ontstaan het, is die behandeling heel anders.

Dit is ‘n geval waar jou veearts ‘n belangrike rol speel om hierdie dodelike wurm te behandel met spesialis behandeling – onthou altyd voorkoming is beter as beheer.  Milbemax en Advocate Spot-on is nou geregistreer om hierdie wurm te verhoed met gereelde maandelikse behandeling (http://www.aloevets.co.za/spirocerca.html).  Jou veearts mag moontlik behandel met ‘n Ivomec of Dormectin inspuiting na diagnose van besmetting om die larwe en volwasse wurms te vernietig.

  • Breë spektrum: Die aktief bestaan uit ‘n groep molekulêre verbindings (bekend as esters) en het ‘n wye spektrum van doodmakende aktiwiteit op insekte as meeste ander produkte wat net ‘n enkele aktief het.

  1. Colostrum and gastric digestion
  • Colostrum is largely protein – how does it survive the adult gastro-intestinal tract without being digested?
  • Both Kelly 12 and Roos 13 have demonstrated that a portion of the antibodies do survive the gastro-intestinal tract, can be measured in the faecal stool and can be shown to still be active. In the case of Kelly, they demonstrated that 4% of the total immunoglobulin was recovered in the stool and that it was still active against Clostridium difficile while Roos demonstrated that around 19% of the total immunoglobulin ingested survived.
  1. Summary of Clinicals

Scientific research in to the benefits of colostrum, particularly with adults, is increasing our knowledge and understanding of the effectiveness, on the adult intestinal tract, of this natural substance and how colostrum can be co-administered with conventional pharmaceuticals to mitigate the side effects of common drugs 2,3,9.

The research and clinical studies help us to understand how colostrum, when taken regularly, acts as a preventive from some common ailments such as upper respiratory tract infections, influenza and pathogenic associated diarrhoea 2,7,8,9,10.

  • Colostrum has been the subject of numerous clinical studies showing efficacy in:
  • Mitigating side effects of NSAIDS
  • Prevention of upper respiratory tract infections
  • Prevention of diarrhoea
  • More effective than flu vaccine in preventing influenza
  • In addition, the evidence for colostral components for AIDS, auto-immune diseases, stem cell proliferation and activation, regenerative medicine and anti-ageing is constantly being published.
  1. COLOSTRUM has been shown in clinical studies to;
  • Reduce the incidence of influenza episodes by more than 3 times when compared flu vaccine10;
  • Protect against side effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)3
  • as a novel treatment for ulcerative distal colitis 6
  • for the treatment of diarrhoeal diseases 7
  • and recurrent diarrhoea associated with antibiotic treatment and overuse9
  • Reduce the incidence of upper respiratory tract infections in healthy children and adults 8,9.
  1. Diarrhoea and colostrum

The PRIDE study, conducted in India investigated the effect of a daily dose of colostrum on 605 children with recurrent episodes of diarrhoea or upper respiratory tract infections (URTI’s). Respiratory disease in children and old people is a common and major cause of morbidity. Diarrhoea is also a major cause of death in children under 5 in developing countries with recurrent diarrhoea affecting approximately 20% of this population.

  1. Upper Respiratory Tract Infections
  • Acute URTI’s and recurrent diarrhoea present the physician or paediatrician with complex treatment issues. The most successful treatment being the use of antibiotics to remove the infections. However, the over prescription of antibiotics can lead to other and more significant problems within communities, such as antibiotic resistance.
  • The results of the PRIDE study showed that supplementation with colostrum, up to 3 grams per day, per child, reduced URTI’s episodes by 91.2% and diarrhoeal episodes by 86.6% after twelve weeks. What was more significant was that paediatrician monitoring the children reported a high to average improvement in overall well-being of 96%.
  • Colostrum from cows was shown be a highly effective prophylactic treatment for URTI’s and diarrhoea reducing both episodes and hospitalisations. Other researchers, such as Brinkworth et al 8, have also reported reductions in URTI’s amongst a group of 174 healthy adult subjects.
  • The major finding of this study showed a significantly lesser portion of subjects taking colostrum reported URTI’s than those in the control group.
  1. Influenza and colostrum
  • URTI’s are commonly associated with colds and influenza events. One study in particular, “The Epidemiological Study in San Valentino” 10, investigated the relationship between colostrum supplementation and influenza protection compared to the commercially available influenza vaccine. Of particular interest was a group of 65 very high-risk cardiovascular subjects with prophylaxis.
  • Colostrum supplementation continued over a two-month period with 400mg of colostrum administered daily. Results of flu episodes and hospitalisations were analysed after three months of treatment. It was found that there were a total 41 episodes in the control group, compared to 57 episodes in the group that received the commercially available flu vaccination. There were a total of 13 reported episodes in the group receiving the colostrum supplement of 400mg per day and 14 episodes in the test group that received the colostrum on a daily basis and had also received the commercially available flu vaccination.
  • The results of the San Valentino study clearly demonstrated that colostrum supplementation in both healthy subjects and high-risk cardiovascular patients is at least 3 times more effective at preventing influenza episodes than a commercially available influenza vaccine. More importantly it showed that colostrum was an acceptable preventive for high-risk cardiovascular patients with prophylaxis.
  1. NSAID Toxicity (Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs) and colostrum
  • Colostrum has also been shown to be an effective treatment to mitigate the effects on common drugs on the intestinal epithelial surface. While non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) are amongst the most effective treatments for musculoskeletal injuries their chronic administration can result in severe gastric and intestinal damage.
  • The result is increased intestinal permeability, which can also be very hard for a physician to diagnose. Playford et al 3 and Khan et al 6, proposed that bovine colostrum, because of its unique composition, including naturally occurring growth factors may be a suitable treatment for NSAID induced intestinal permeability and ulceration.
  1. Distal Colitis and colostrum
  • It was found that in healthy subjects where indomethacin was administered without colostrum supplementation intestinal permeability increased significantly, whereas in the subjects who undertook colostrum supplementation and indomethacin treatment there was no significant increase in intestinal permeability.
  • Khan et al on the other hand found that when colostrum was administered as an enema for the treatment of distal colitis the group receiving the colostrum showed a significant reduction in the mean symptom score compared to the control group and histological score improved in 62.5% of the test subjects.
  1. Antifungal Activity and colostrum
  • One of the most common factors that predispose one to invasive Candida spp. infections is immunosuppression, usually as a result of chemotherapy.
  • Anti-cancer chemotherapy causes neutropenia and damage to the GI mucosa, favouring invasive Candida infections
  • Prolonged use of antibiotics eliminates the host’s competing bacterial microflora, allowing Candida to grow unchecked.
