Research/Efficacy on CHD-FA™

The medicinal uses of humic substances and fulvic acid have been known for many years. Medicinal products containing humic and fulvic acids with therapeutic indications for inflammation, bacterial infections, allergies, arthritis, rheumatism and various other conditions are freely available.   • Anti-inflammatory

 Many conditions in the human body are caused by inflammation. CHD-FA™ with its known anti-inflammatory properties will assist with these conditions. The following studies have been successfully completed:

  • CHD-FA™ inhibits Carrageen-induced inflammation and enhances wound healing. This peer-reviewed, published study conducted at the University of Pretoria indicated that CHD-FA™ has its anti-inflammatory effect by neutralising free radicals. The rate of reduction in the inflammation as a result of ingesting CHD-FA™ is equivalent to that of Indomethacin, a registered anti-inflammatory often used.
  • Phase 1 clinical study of the acute and sub-acute safety and proof of concept efficacy in humans. This peer-reviewed, published study also proved that CHD-FA™ acts as an anti-inflammatory.
  • Inflammatory efficacy of CHD-FA™ in an in vitro whole blood assay (human). The conclusion of this study done at Washington Biotechnology was that CHD-FA™ is a potent anti-inflammatory agent comparable to Dexamethasone.
  • In a randomized, parallel-group, double-blind, controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CHD-FA™ in the topical treatment of eczema, which has been peer-reviewed and published, it was found that CHD-FA™ in a cream formulation successfully improved eczema.

 Antibacterial

Bacterial and microbial infections, both systemic as well as topical, are a major health issue worldwide. Furthermore, antibiotic overuse, as well as not completing prescribed courses of antibiotics, has created a generation of resistant bacteria that, once they have invaded our bodies makes treatment very difficult. Studies at various institutions around the globe found that CHD-FA™ was successful in not only killing a wide variety of organisms, but also has the following effects:

Antibacterial studies on CHD-FA™, including peer-reviewed and published articles:

  • CHD-FA™ is a highly-promising topical agent to enhance healing of wounds infected with drug-resistant pathogens. This peer-reviewed and published work was done at the Public Health Research Institute, Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. The study proved that CHD-FA™ is effective against the ‘super-bug’, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, a powerful microbe that has become of major concern worldwide.
  • Biological properties of CHD-FA™ as a potential novel therapy for the management of oral biofilm infections. This study conducted at the world-famous Glasgow Dental School, School of Medicines, was peer-reviewed and published, and concluded that CHD-FA™ exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against orally-relevant biofilm organisms.
  • Synergistic effect of CHD-FA™. The results of this study conducted at the University of Pretoria showed that CHD-FA™ has antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans. The antimicrobial spectrum of CHD-FA™ compares favourably with that of currently-prescribed antibiotics and acts synergistically with oxacillin (methicillin) and gentamicin. A Gram stain of albicans grown in the presence of CHD-FA™ showed rounded, enlarged, non-dividing bodies indicating that this product acts on the cell wall of microorganisms.
  • Assessment of the in vitro efficacy of CHD-FA ± Oxacillin following several passages in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (EMRSA16). This study at Euprotec in the UK indicated that there is no resistance build-up by CHD-FA™.
  • Determination of the in vitro efficacy of CHD-FA™ against multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and Mycobacteria. The study concluded:
    • CHD-FA™ was effective against NDM-1, KPC and ESBL positive Klebsiella pneumonia and multi-resistant coli strains with a 100% MIC value of 0.06-0.12%.
    • CHD-FA™ was highly effective against multi-resistant Gram negative bacilli including NDM-1 positive strains. CHD-FA was also highly effective against Mycobacterium smegmatis. All organisms were inhibited using ≤0.12% of CHD-FA™.
  • Antiviral

Viruses are microscopic organisms that replicate within the cells of animals, plants and humans and subsequently cause disease. Such diseases can range from the common cold and influenza to Epstein Barr’s disease, herpes and hepatitis, to name but a few.

An in vitro study performed at the University of Pretoria showed CHD-FA™ to be fast and effective in managing feline herpes.

In vitro work was also done at Virologic in the USA against HIV strains, showing efficacy.

  • Antifungal

 Not all fungi are beneficial. Some are toxic and often cause diseases that can be both uncomfortable and dangerous. Examples include: aspergillus (can cause cancer); zygomycetes (can cause serious external skin infections and internal infections along the gastrointestinal tract); and Candida, of which there are many species with the most common one causing vaginal infections. As with many strains of bacteria, many Candida species are resistant to drugs.

A wide range of studies were performed on CHD-FA™ as an anti-fungal agent:

  • Studies carried out at Fungiscope in Germany showed that resistant Candida strains tested were inhibited by CHD-FA™.
  • Assessment of the in vivo efficacy of CHD-FA™ in a murine model of disseminated Candidiasis. This study done at Euprotec in the UK proved that CHD-FA™ is effective in vivo against Candida albicans on its own or in combination with other medicines such as Fluconazole.
  • Assessment of the in vitro efficacy of CHD-FA™ against malassezia and dermatophyte This study done at Euprotec in the UK proved that CHD-FA™:
    • inhibits the growth of Malassezia dermatis, Malassezia furfur and Malassezia globosa when used as a 0.125% solution at its native pH of 2.1 in vitro.
    • inhibits the growth of all dermatophyte strains tested, except Microsporum canis, when used as a 0.2-0.4% solution.
  • Immune Support

Because of its anti-oxidant as well as chelating and other properties such as enhanced nutritional uptake as discussed, CHD-FA™ is effective in supporting a stronger immune system.

  • Anti-Diabetic

  5. Die aktivering van die ensiem NF-ĸB, is dus die grootste mediator van inflammasie
  6. En daarom is die inhibering van die ensiem NF-ĸB baie belangrik, want die inhibering daarvan sal voorkom dat enige inflammasie begin of ontstaan of hande uit ruk.

Die uitset is eenvoudig.

  1. Inhibeer die NF-ĸB ensiem se natuurlike ontstaan en inhibeer sy uitsette voorkomend.

Soos die Literatuur in die stuk sal uitwys, is daar nog ‘n belangrike rolspeler van belang wat gewigsverlies voorkom of beïnvloed.

Dit is die hormoon “Kortisol” en die vele redes vir die afskeiding daarvan deur die byniere. Kortisol is in die Literatuur beskrywe  as die “Streshormoon”.

Die hormoon is die oorsaak van ‘n lae intensiteit van inflammasie in die liggaam.

Die vraag is of dit enigsins so belangrik is en het dit werklik ‘n invloed op gewigsverlies?

Wanneer kortisol afgeskei word ontwrig dit;

  • Bloedsuikervlakke in die liggaam, wat gemoedstoestande en energievlakke beïnvloed.
  • Ontwrig dit hormone en ook die skildklier se normale hormoonproduksie.
  • Ontwrig dit ‘n persoon se normale spysvertering en, is dit ‘n oorsaak van kroniese konstipasie
  • En waarskynlik die belangrikste nagevolge, dit speel ‘n groot rol by die vorming van vet.

Stres is ongelukkig deel van ons dinamiese lewe en lewenstyle. Veroorsaak ook deur politieke en ekonomiese gebeure.

By gewigsverlies moet ons hiervoor ‘n voorkomende natuurlike antwoord kry.

In die Biologie is die teenvoeter vir die ontwikkeling van kortisol, die ensiem bekend as “Dehydroepiandrosterone” of “DHAE”. Dit minimaliseer die skadelike effekte van kortisol.

BLOUSEL – DIE SISTEMIESE GEBRUIK

Blousel staan ook bekend as “blue vitriol” ( blou vieterjoel) en “blue stone”. Die aktiewe bestanddeel in blousel is kopersulfaat.

Daar is werklik ‘n wrede outydse geloof dat blousel, wat ook vir die bleik van klere gebruik word, skadeloos is wanneer dit vir n dier ingegee word. Dit vernietig die totale biologiese maagbioom of mikrobes waar mens en dier se gesondheid begin, en steriliseer juis die bakterie wat gesondheid en lewe by begin.

Hieronder die uiteensetting van die gevare van inwendige gebruik, per ongeluk of doelbewus.  Kopersulfaat word vandag nog gebruik in die volgende industrieë:

Toxicological effects Copper sulfate is an irritant.  The usual routes by which humans can receive toxic exposure to copper sulfate are through eye or skin contact, as well as by inhaling powders and dusts.

Skin contact may result in itching or eczema.  Eye contact with copper sulfate can cause conjunctivitis, inflammation of the eyelid lining, ulceration, and clouding of the cornea.  Upon oral exposure, copper sulfate is only moderately toxic.

According to studies, the lowest dose of copper sulfate that had a toxic impact on humans is 11 mg/kg.  Because of its irritating effect on the gastrointestinal tract, vomiting is automatically triggered in case of the ingestion of copper sulfate.  However, if copper sulfate is retained in the stomach, the symptoms can be severe.  After 1–12 grams of copper sulfate are swallowed, such poisoning signs may occur as a metallic taste in the mouth, burning pain in the chest, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, headache and discontinued urination which leads to yellowing of the skin.  In cases of copper sulfate poisoning injury to the brain, stomach, liver, or kidneys may also occur.”

Copper sulfate, also known as ‘blue stone’ or ‘blue vitriol’, is a chemical compound that is used in a wide range of industries. The basic chemical formula of blue vitriol is ‘CuSO4‘, but the salt exists as a series of different compounds, depending on the degree of hydration. ‘Chalcocite’, the anhydrous form of copper sulfate, occurs as a rare mineral and exists as a pale green or grayish-white powder.
The various hydrated forms of copper sulfate include trihydrates, pentahydrates, and heptahydrates. However, copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO4.5H2O) is the most commonly found salt. It is bright blue in color and is known as ‘chalcanthite’. This color of the crystals is due to the presence of water of crystallization, and is the best way to distinguish between the anhydrous and hydrated forms.

Copper sulfate can be prepared in the laboratory by reacting various compounds of copper (II) with sulfuric acid. However, it is commercially available on a large-scale basis, and is an economic source of Cu. Copper sulfate pentahydrate readily dissolves in water and is also soluble in methanol, glycerol, and to some extent in ethanol. When the blue crystals of copper sulfate are heated in an open flame, they get dehydrated and turn grayish white.

Copper sulfate is a versatile chemical compound having a wide range of applications in agriculture, as well as pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Agriculture

  • Copper sulfate pentahydrate is commonly used as a fungicide to control various bacterial and fungal diseases of crops, fruits, and vegetables, such as mildew, leaf spots, blights, and apple scab.
  • Mixture of copper sulfate and ammonium carbonate, known as Chestnut compound, is used as a soil sterilizer or in horticulture to prevent seedlings from getting damp.
  • It is used in the preparation of Bordeaux mixture, along with lime, which is utilized for leaf application and seed treatment for treating fungal diseases on grapes, melons, and other berries.
  • Copper sulfate pentahydrate is used as a molluscicide, to repel and kill slugs and snails.
  • It as an algaecide to prevent algal growth.

Chemical Industry

  • Copper sulfate is often used in the preparation of catalysts for several reactions in many industries.
  • The anhydrous form of this salt catalyzes many processes like the transacylation in organic synthesis.
  • It is used in purification of gases by removal of hydrogen chloride and hydrogen sulfide.

Public Health and Medicine

  • Copper sulfate is used as a fungicide not only in agriculture, but also as an antiseptic and germicide against fungal infections in humans.
  • Incorporating this salt in floor cleaning mixtures helps in preventing athlete’s foot in tropical countries.
  • Copper sulfate is used in the preparation of Paris green, to kill mosquito larvae that cause malaria.
  • It is used to keep algal blooms away, especially from the swimming pools and water reservoirs.
  • Copper sulfate helps in eradicating snails that harbor the parasite responsible for causing Schistosomiasis in humans.

Bakteriese Velsiektes (Pyoderma)

BAKTERIESE VELSIEKTES (PYODERMA) BY HUISDIERE

Pyoderma is bakteriese infeksies van huisdiere wat op die vel geprojekteer word. Dit kom baie algemeen op honde voor maar is nie algemeen te vinde op katte nie.

  1. Oorsaak

Veltoestande by diere is grootliks ‘n sekondêre probleem, wat beteken dat dit die gevolg is van ‘n ander probleem wat volledig aangespreek moet word om die probleem in sy kern te smoor. Moontlik is die heel belangrikste ‘n gesonde immuniteitstelsel wat deur goeie voeding en higiëne ondersteun word.

  1. Myte as deel van die velprobleem

Myte op huisdiere is ‘n natuurlike toestand. Myte se mees effektiewe behandeling of teenmiddel is ‘n dier se gesonde immuunstelsel wat hul werkinge in geheel onderdruk.

  1. Permanensie van velsiektes

Hierdie veltoestande is selde fataal. Of hul heeltemal gesond gedokter kan word met behandeling en middels, bly ‘n ope vraag. Dat hul beheer en bestuur kan word is so, maar dit vereis dat daar deurlopend hieraan aandag gegee sal word met middels omdat hierdie velstoestande in chroniese permanente veltoestande (pyoderma) ontwikkel.

  1. Begrip

Diere-eienaars en veeartse is soms in konflik met mekaar oor die veltoestande. Die oorsaak is nie werklik met die oog waarneembaar nie en moderne diagnostiese toetse moet gedoen word om die probleem en oorsaak te bepaal. Soms het die eienaar nie die geld om hierdie diagnostiese toetse te laat doen nie en moet die veearts of kundige persoon sy beste doen om die saak aan te spreek.

  1. Tipe veltoestande of Pyodermas

5.1 Aknee: Net soos in die geval van mense kan honde ook aknee kry in hul puberteit in die omgewing van die ken en lippe, op die maag en tussen die bene.

5.2 “Hot spots”: Ook bekend as ekseem, nat kolle, dermatitus of “Pyotraumatiese dermatitus”. Hierdie toestand is ‘n seisoenale probleem en is gewoonlik waarneembaar by diere wanneer dit by nat, klam en warm toestande kom. Bakterie van die omgewing vestig hul in die ideale omstandighede dan ook op die vel. Diere byt, skuur en krap die vel om van die bakteriese nawerking en juk ontslae te raak en versprei so die bakterie verder op die wond van die vel. Dit kan na groot oppervlaktes versprei binne ‘n dag of twee.

5.3 Follikulitus: Ook bekend wanneer ‘n dier se vel voue het en dermatitus of ontsteking daar ontstaan. Nog ‘n naam vir die toestand is “Pustulêre pyoderma”, wat by tye kan opvlam en ontsteek van algemene en/of normale ander bakterie van die vel. Dit is minder dramaties as bogenoemde en ontstaan veral wanneer diere aan mekaar se velle raak, soos by die vulva, die stert en anale area. Sharpei tipe honde met velle in die gesig is gewoonlik die meer vatbare tipe diere. Lewenslange versorging en higiëne is belangrik by hierdie tipe diere.

5.4 Pyoderma (tussen die tone), “Puppy strangles”, drukpunt pyoderma (callus), peri-anale en algemene pyoderma. Al hierdie toestande neem baie lank om te heel en frustreer mens en dier. Die probleem mag herhaaldelik te voorskyn kom nadat dit die eerste keer op ‘n dier waargeneem is. Suksesvolle behandeling beteken nie dat die probleem vir eens en altyd opgelos is nie.

5.5 Seborrhoea is ‘n veltoestand met verskeie vorme. By mense word dit skilfers genoem. Die vel is rooi, met matige inflammasie, olierig, en het ‘n skilferagtige kors. Die toestand word veroorsaak deur oormatige sebum afskeidings (olieklier afskeidings), wat normaalweg sou verhoed dat die vel verdroog en dat daar haarverlies plaasvind. Dit is ‘n lewenslange toestand en vereis honde eienaarskap wat bereid is om te aanvaar.

  1. Oorsake van bakteriese velprobleme en kondisies

Die baie bekende “Stapylococci “ bakterie (Staph bakterie) is van die mees algemene organismes wat gevind word in bakteriese velsiektes of kondisies. Gelukkig is hierdie siektetoestand nie oordraagbaar na mense toe nie

7. Voorkoming is beter as beheer

  1. Die meeste velverwante probleme is, soos genoem, sekondêr. Dit beteken dat dit dalk nooit sou ontstaan het as siekteverwante organismes soos vlooie, bosluise, groepe wurms, virussiektes en bakteriese omstandighede voorkomend bestuur is nie.
  2. Bydraend tot dit kan daar wel genetiese faktore wees wat ‘n rol speel, hormonale disfunksies of abnormaliteite in die immuunsisteem. Wanneer bakteriese infeksies opduik, speel kundige persone soos jou veearts wat verskeie toetse kan uitvoer, ‘n belangrike rol in die beheer en bestuur daarvan.
  3. Die belangrikste hiervan is om vas te stel wat hierdie velreaksies veroorsaak. Dit kan tekorte in minerale en vitamienes wees soos sink, kos wat nie deur die hond se dermkanale opgeneem word nie en bloot uitgeskei word wat veroorsaak dat die hond tegnies honger ly en sy immuunsisteem onder druk kom, gluten reaksies van koring en meelprodukte, kleurstowwe, preserveermiddels, vlooie, wurms, materiale en om die dier daarvan te skei.
  4. Laastens, goeie higiëne met produkte wat veilig vir diere en hoogs effektief teen hul kieme is, is die antwoord. Nie boererate en selfaangemaakte brousels nie. Dit verhard net die weerstandigheid van die kieme wat mens wil beheer.
